In Chinese this bamboo is called 'Huang Wen Zhu' and means 'Yellow Grove Bamboo'. This form of vivax has emerald green culms with a yellow sulcus. This stripe repeats itself on every other internode. Like the species, 'Huangwenzhu' is quick to acheive great heights.
In some groves, vivax Huangwenzhu shoots will sport to other vivax cultivars and vice versa!! Another unexplainable wonder of bamboo.
